While most repaired discs will be returned in a like new condition, there may be a slight, barely noticeable circular pattern created during the wet sanding process or there may be text worn away near the center of the disc. We cannot repair discs that have been damaged by deep scratches, heat, chemicals or chips.Ħ. Please note not all discs can be repaired.
Discs left at the library longer than 4 weeks after repair will be considered a donation to the library and handled as per our Materials Donation Policy.ĥ. Customers must provide their Plainville Public Library card which must be in good standing for identification upon pick up. Staff will call when discs are ready for pick up. Discs will not be cleaned on a “while you wait” basis. Timeframe for cleaning is estimated to be one week. If you try and clean them at home I would suggest only using water and a completely clean microfiber cloth and look up a YouTube video on the correct way to wipe a cd (always go from the center out, not in a circular motion)Īnything beyond that and you will probably end up doing more damage to the disk trying to fix it, this is coming from personal experience. Just ask if the the cleaner/machine they use is compatible with mini cds. Also ask at pawn shops that deal with used dvds. So I would start by asking stores around you that deal with a high volume of disks like used game stores or video rental places. For expensive games I take them to a local video game store and have them sent off to be restored by their service center for $3 a disk, more expensive but the games come back looking like new.įor cheap games I know a pawn shop that has one of those jiffy pro machines with the GameCube attachment and they will usually do it for free because I shop there a lot
